Our Story
For more than 40 years, John Wilson of Chickasha, OK coordinated medical missions for non-profit groups. He arranged flights, lodging, food and clinic locations. He shepherded as many as 120 volunteers and interpreters through foreign countries to bring medicine and the love of God to the world’s needy.
In 2003, after coordinating more than 90 mission trips, God put it on John’s heart to start Faith Medical Missions as an organization to address the physical and spiritual needs of struggling people around the world. By sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the abundance of medical blessings and knowledge of the United States, Faith Medical Missions gave hope and healing. Faithfully following the Lord’s calling, John led over 160 groups in the mission field. During the COVID epidemic John battled valiantly but in February of 2021 John completed his journey here and entered into the presence of Jesus. He has been greatly missed by all his friends and fellow workers from many mission teams. In December of 2024, the current organization named Faith Global Medical Missions Inc. was birthed from the spontaneous calling that many of the previous team members felt to continue what John Wilson had begun. We were incorporated as a non-profit Oklahoma corporation with a board of directors composed from the previous mission team organization.
The ministry makes three trips per year to several countries in Central and South America and well as Thailand, Cambodia and Romania. On each trip, the group treats between 4,000 and 5,000 in the medical clinic and 400 to 500 in the dental clinic. In addition, more than $80,000 in medicine is distributed at no charge and more than 1,000 pairs of eye glasses are given away. More importantly, Faith Medical Missions shares the gospel with all who will listen. It’s difficult to hear the story of salvation when someone is in pain or hungry. Faith Global Medical Missions addresses the physical needs to be able to share the story of eternal life. Over the past 20+ years, more than 18,000 people have come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Our goal is to be faithful servants of God. We long to be used by Him and to be willing to serve Him fully. We strive to provide love and medical care to the hurting and suffering people in the world. We seek to be living examples of God’s love for perishing mankind. Sometimes we fail and sometimes by God’s grace we succeed. Both in times of triumph and in times of trial, we know that Jesus Christ is the only hope for our world.
